Community Integration

Students at our Williams site who are at least 15 years of age, are out in the community on a regular basis.

Community integration provides exposure to the business and social aspects of community, so a student can be a productive member of the place where he or she lives.

Accompanied by staff, students take shopping trips to learn how to act appropriately in a store. They will learn how to locate an item, how to ask for information and finally, how to purchase an item. These experiences teach students about money skills and appropriate behavior in public settings.

Volunteer work is another aspect of the Monarch School of New England's community integration experience. In volunteering, students learn vocational skills and behavior appropriate for community settings. As a volunteer, they are exposed to a variety of experiences with the goal of finding work that will interest and employ them once they transition from school to the community.

The end goal is that our students be happy and engaged members of the communities in which they live.
