Accessibility Statement

The Paciello Group, a leading accessibility consultancy firm, have worked with Monarch School to ensure that all aspects of monarchschoolne.org are fully accessible to all. The site was tested on the 24th April 2009 for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.0 and, found to be fully compliant to level AA on the day of testing.

How our pages are organised

Most of the pages on the site have the same “look and feel”. Here’s how they look from top to bottom:

The first section, at the top of the page contains The Monarch School logo and general site links including a link to the Site map, the frequently asked questions page and contact us page

Below these you’ll find the main site navigation, split into five topics: Home About us, Life at the school, Health, Support us and Partners.

Below this, the page splits into two columns:

1. The left-hand menu which will change as you browse through our various subsections.

2. The column in the centre (content column) is where you’ll find the text of the page you’ve browsed to.

Navigating the site

We’ve built in a few “signposts” to help you find your way around the page if you’re a screenreader user.

At the top of the page you’ll find a link titled ‘Skip to content’. Use this link to jump over the site links directly to the content of a particular page.

Heading structure

We’ve structured the site in a way that will allow you to take advantage of your screenreader’s heading jump facilities. The content column begins with a heading 1. If a column is logically split into several sections, each section will begin with a heading so you can easily skip through the page.L
